While doing some research for THE 100TH, Seeds of Aloha, we came across a TV show called Gallant Men with a 1963 episode entitled “One Puka Puka.” The episode features Big Island born Poncie Ponce (Hawaiian Eye) playing Lt. Joe O’Hara and Honolulu born Frank Atienza (Blue Hawaii, Star Trek) playing Cowboy in the 100th INF BN (SEP), WWII. Lt. O’Hara thanks Cowboy for saving him from being killed by a German soldier and Cowboy throws a 🤙 shakey Shaka 🤙 back, consistent with his real life Honolulu upbringing.

In our previous film, SHAKA, A Story of Aloha, the earliest recorded Shaka we found was Elvis Presley’s 1973 Aloha from Hawaii “Hana Hou” Shaka 🤙 thrown during the first global satellite broadcast ever.

This one predates Elvis’ by a decade. More importantly, it’s thrown before Lippy Espinda’s early 1970s use in his TV show and/or used car sales ads.

You go Cowboy!!!🤠 🤙 #shaka #aloha
🎶 Three’s Company… well, almost! 🎶

Betsy and Buhdah are busy enjoying their veggie feast while little Machi watches from behind the fence, hoping to score an invitation. 🐶💕

Unfortunately for Machi, today’s menu is reserved for professional bunny munchers only. 🐰🥬😂
